Inizio di marzo con tempo instabile, ma qualche giorno di tregua del meteo avverso fanno ben sperare per poter finalmente frequentare il torrente preferito dal quale sono stato lontano per tutto il periodo invernale.

In queste situazioni il pesce diminuisce l’attività predatoria fino a cessarla del tutto, del resto non vale la pena bruciare energie preziose quando le stesse servono a combattere la bassa temperatura dell’acqua che lo circonda.

Da un veloce sguardo all’ambiente circostante mi rendo anche conto che, ovviamente, non ci sono insetti in schiusa e così decido di provare a ninfa nella remota speranza di invogliare qualche trota sul fondo.

Passate le 13:00, dopo un paio d’ore di inutili tentativi, la mia attenzione viene attratta da un sasso della sponda sulla cui superficie intravedo la sagoma di un piccolo plecottero, è una Leuctra, tipica specie del periodo. Anche le Baetis rhodani sono una specie di efemerottero tipico di questo periodo, ma oggi sono totalmente assenti a riprova che la temperatura dell’acqua è troppo bassa e ne ha bloccato la maturazione delle ninfe.

Riposta la canna mi dedico con successo alla ricerca di altri esemplari di Leuctra, ne trovo altri intenti a scaldarsi sui sassi e, fra questi, ce n’è uno con una exuvia di Taeniopterygidae, altra specie di plecottero d’inizio stagione.
