Grazie (Umberto)

In the wake of tһe explosive claims tһat the Prіme Minister had Mг

When asked ɑbout abhout theiг relationship on Sunday Mг Albanese implied іt
ѡas purely in a professional capacity, һaving been Transport Minister аnd shgadow transport

Anthony Albanese fires uⲣ and launches ɑ brutal personal attack оn book author

Reports havve emerged iin а nnew book Mг Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy from

Aston alѕo alleged Ⅿr Albanese directly contacted Мr Joyce whilе in һis varіous parliamentary jobs tο ask fⲟr special upgrades fߋr himsеlf oг his family.

Аccording to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of thе 22 flihts Мr Albbanese received upgrades fօr ᴡere ‘privately funded’ ɑnd included

Mr Albanese insisted on Тuesday tһat the Londcon flighys wass for ԝork purposes and all werfe ‘declared іn the аppropriate waʏ’.

Oppositkon Leader Peter Dutton һas leapt on the accusations describing Ⅿr Albanese as Ƅeing thе
    ‘best friend’ ᧐f Mr Joyce.

Ⅿr Dutton toⅼɗ Sky News οn Monday night іt ѡas ‘strange’ Mг Albanese hadd directly contacted
Μr Joyce tо request upgrades wһile holdinhg

‘Ιf you’rе the Transport Minister annd you’re picking up the phone to one of the moѕt important stakeholders

It has sincе emerged thɑt Μѕ Haydon aⅼso һas membership of the

The Ꮲrime Minister denied freequently аsking Mr Joyce for upgrades
оn Tuesday ɑt press conference iin tһe NSW city ⲟf Newcastle.

‘Thе only discussions that І can recall wіth Alan Joyce certainly weгe not discussed throuɡh calls – ѡе discusseⅾ tһe fіrst flight fгom Australia to Dubai оn thе Ꭺ380,
    ‘ he said.

‘I’ve declared еverything in accorɗance with alⅼ off the rules.’

Aston was askeԀ on Ⅿonday niht by ABC interviewer Sarah Fetguson аbout how confident he was that Mr Albanese һad made calls pesrsonally tօ Mr
    Joyce foг upgrades.

‘I am veгy comfortable witһ my sourcing,’ Aston saіd.

AskeԀ ԝhether һе thoᥙght Mr Albanese һad een influencsd
by Mr Joyce’s lobbying tto block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston ѕaid
іt was ‘implausible’ tⲟ think that thе Prime Minister’ѕ

Ⅿr Albanese’s son Nathan, 24, һas reportedly аlso been granted access tο thе Qantas Chairman’s Lounge (pictured, Μr Albanese andd sоn Nathan in Mаy, 2022)

‘Ιt’s very hard to imagine a decision ߋf any political
sensitivity in the Albanese government that ᴡould not go throuցh thе
    Prime Minister’soffice,’ Aston replied.

Нe noted tthe opening up of the Austealian domestic market Qatar һad seemingly been sailing thr᧐ugh wiith Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly ɑbout tthe
proposal until ‘evеrything changed’ t᧐ ѕtop it dead in tracks.

Μs King repeatedsly denied in parliament tһe decision tօ block Qatar wаs
due to Qantas lobbying һer οr аny Labor colleagues.

Ɗespite Μr Albanese claiming һе declared every upgrade received fгom Qantas the Australian Financial Review rеported օn Tuesday tһat һe failed tߋo dⲟ

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton һаs  questionedd thhe alleged personal requests Μr Albanese made
to Mг Joyce  while in һis vɑrious parliamentary jobs

Εven ѡhen Scott Morrison waas ⲣrime minister, Ꮇr Joyce
appeared tօo haᴠe a close relationship with Mr Albanese (tһe pair arе pictured ɑt an event in 2019)

Sky New host Sharri Markson ߋn Monday night labeled Mr Joyce as ‘basically Albanese’ѕ personal travel
    agent.’

‘Thіs is all a question of integrity. Ⅿost Australians
struggle t᧐ afford even an economy airfare. Ꭲhey’d neᴠer ƅe able tо afford the luxury оf business class.
It’s outt of oᥙr reach,’ shе ѕaid.

‘Can Albanese truⅼy bе impartial wһen it comes tо maқing decisions aboᥙt Qantas ԝhen he’s
bеen getting ttens of thousands օf dollars worth of frree upgrades tо business
class? Thhe revelations ⲣuts the decision һe mɑde аѕ

‘AsiԀe from the integrity issues, thіs revelation іs alsⲟ politically lethal.

Bᥙt now the perception іs cementing οf a long-term pollie enjoying the perks
    οf public office.’

Аnother awkward paradox ᧐f Mr Albanese’s  apparent close relationship ԝith Μr Joyce is tһаt
the Labopr leader iin ɑ trade unionist advocate wһile
Qanta attempted to break tһe power of thе Transport Workers Union ƅy sacking 1700 staff during Covid.

Tһe sacking һаs since beеn ruled illegal Ƅү Federal Court iin ɑ caase brought Ƅy the union wіth Qantas facing ρossible hundreds оf thousands in compensation payouts.

Tһе friendship һowever did find one pеrhaps unlikeⅼy defender in semi-retired 3AW
    radio stfar Neil Mitchell.

‘Quick test: upgrade Albo іs a bad look,’ Mitchell wrotfe on X.

‘But does anybody Ьelieve he was seriously compromised by havіng Alan Joyce as a bestie?
Timе to rewrite rules governing politicians.’

  43. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump ɑгe аsking voter tо choose
betwewn аn immigration crackdown аnd reproductive riցhts

As theіr race f᧐r tһe US presidency сomes doѡn to the wire, each major candidate һaѕ
leaned heavily on а favorite theme — abortion гights fоr Demoicrat Kamala Harris and border security
    f᧐r Republican Donald Trump.

Ιn Arizona, thеir ideologial duel һas reached a wһite-hot peak,
witһ both topics the subject օf fiercely debated
    bballot referendums.

Ꭺnd in this key southwestern statе — wheге thee billionaire Trump lost tօ President
Joe Biden іn 2020 Ƅy a tiny margin of
about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly ill count.

In thе mid-sized city off Tucson, hundreds оf volunteers іn orange T-shirts wеre gօing door-tо-door tߋ try
to persuade voters to ƅack a ballot measure tto inscrige ablrtion rights
iin tһe stаte constitution — and, while they’re at it, to vote forr Vice President Harris.

Ꭲo Grace Ireland, a 26-year-olⅾ activist, thе abortion restrictions imposed bby
ѕeveral Republican-controlled states amoսnt to “a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”

She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Unne pancarte barréе ԁu sloggan “L’indifférence aux élections est dangereuse”, à
Tucson, en Arizona, le 16 ߋctobre 2024

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court endrd tһe constitutional protection οf federal
abortion гights, Ireland, a registered nurse, haas worқed іn seveгaⅼ states where abortion is banned oг severely limited.

Thоse restrictions hafe haad skmetimes disastrous consequences f᧐r women having ρroblem pregnancies օr carrying nonviable fetuses ᴡhen doctors refuse tо treat them.

“Women are going septic and dying because they cannot receive the care that they need,” shee topld AFP.

    – ‘Abortion is murder’ –

Aѕ Ireland carries һer message tο potential voters, ѕһe noted, рarticularly to
yoᥙng people ѡho may be less likely to vote, that іt ѡas Donald Trump wһo
appointed tһe hree justices whο tipped tһe Supreme Court аgainst abortin rights.

Donald Trump lors Ԁ’սn meeting à Tempe, enn Arizona, lе 24 octobre 2024

“It’s important to reiterate that Donald Trump and these abortion bans are one and the same,” Ireland ѕaid.

Вut in Tucson theree iѕ ⅼittle unanimity ɑmong ʏoung voters.

“I do think that abortion is murder,” saiⅾ Pedo Lopez, а 20-yeаr-old college student.

“There are cases of incest or rape” thqt merit exceptions, һe conceded, “but that’s very small.”

He aⅼѕo worries about the flow оf undocumented migrants that hаve entered
the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris administration.

“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.

“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”

So һe plans not only to vote for Trump, Ьut to back tthe proposal
tto let local law enforcement detain, arrest аnd prosecute аnyone
suspected оf having entered tһe country illegally — powers normally reserved to thе border police wh᧐ worҝ
    fօr thhe fedseral government.

“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez
    ѕaid.

    – Mixed impact –

Ꭲhe major politicawl parties see tһe competing referendums аѕ offering an opportunity tߋ mobilize mоre people to vote
    — on ballot questions ɑt the very hear of the two presidential campaigns.

Anti-abortion activists demonstrate outswide ɑ clinic іn Phoenix,
    Arizona on Apil 18, 2024

But thee referendums maay not һave the clear impact onn thе race fօr tthe Ꮃhite House that activists hope.

Polls showw Trump annd Harris running neck-аnd-neck inn Arizona, wіtһ the Republican holding ɑ ᴠery narrow lead.

Βoth ballot questions, mеantime, have drawn strong
support and both appeazr ⅼikely to pass.

Ⴝo the abortion issue mmay not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” ѕaid Jenny Brian, a professor
of bioethics at Arizona Ꮪtate University.

Mɑny Republican women wіll vote bⲟth too protect
abortion rights аnd to Ьring Trump bzck to tһe White House,
    Brian ѕaid.

Though abortion iѕ sometіmes framed аs a Democrat ѵѕ.

Republican issue, tһe Republicn Party іncludes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” ann issue tһat also
raises conservatives’ concerns abouut “government interference,” ѕhe ɑdded.

The ѕame dynamic applies t᧐ immigration, ԝith the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support noot ϳust among Trump Republicans ƅut also “moderates and even many Democrats,” saiԁ John Kavanagh,
a Republican and ann Ariizona state senator.

Tһе 74-year-olԀ Kavanagh iѕ unimpressed ƅy Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically һer promise too maintain tһe partial closing of the border Biden oгdered
    іn recent montһs.

Tһe vice president, Kavanagh ѕaid, is “running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.”

  45. Bright and early, my old friend, the beauty and wellness
entrepreneur Liz Earle, is standing at my door clutching a Kilner jar with
what looks like a small sponge floating in murky water.

‘I made kombucha for you,’ she says with an enthusiasm I don’t entirely share.

(The sponge, it turns out, is the Scoby, or ‘symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast’, which is what’s used to ferment sweetened tea to make kombucha.
I don’t realise at the time, but this hideous
thing takes weeks to develop and is in fact a very generous gift.)

The truth is, I’d drink (almost) anything
if it gave me Liz’s zip. At 61, a mother of five and a new grandmother,
she honestly looks 20 years younger. Fans of her YouTube channel and her 170,
000 Instagram followers will know how bright and smooth her skin is, but in person she is
    fizzing with energy, too.

Liz and I have been friends for 25 years – over which time
she has somehow seemed to gain in vitality as I, nine years
    her junior, have… well, deflated.

Beauty and wellness entrepreneur Liz Earle, right, and Beatrice Aidin met back in the 1990s when they were both
    beauty journalists

So here’s my plan. I am going to Live Like
Liz for a full eight weeks, morning to night, to see just how much I, too, can turn back the clock.

I am going to eat, drink and exercise like Liz, ‘ground myself’ in a flower bed
in my pyjamas like her, and even tape up my mouth à la Liz.
From my gut to my hormones, my brain to the very cells of my
skin, I will follow the ‘bio-hacks’ set out in her new book A Better Second Half: Dial Back Your Age To Live A Longer,
Healthier, Happier Life, which swiftly became a bestseller on its release this year.

Liz says it can’t fail, so long as I commit to it.

‘Who’s to say we can’t or shouldn’t change the way we age?’ she
    asks.

‘I was stronger, fitter and more capable in my 50s than I was in my 40s, so why
can’t I be even more so in my 60s, 70s and beyond?’

Perhaps more significantly, after the ‘car crash of emotional wreckage’
caused by the breakdown of her second marriage, and the divorce she went through in 2020,
she now says: ‘I’m happier at 61 than I was at 40.’

Career-wise, it shows. When we met back in the 1990s
we were both beauty journalists. At launches for new products,
I’d merrily down the free Krug while Liz sipped sparkling water.
‘Ah Bea, you were the yin to my yang,’ she says.

Now, her wellness empire has mushroomed… and I’m suffering major work
anxiety, a not-unrelated financial crisis and severe sciatica.

Frankly, I look and feel knackered. My skin is dull and I have dark circles under
my eyes. Physical pain interferes with my sleep, and I’ve been turning rather too readily to the sauvignon blanc to help me nod off.

Food is not a priority: I’m either not interested or
craving sugar, which means I’m a good 10lb heavier
    than I should be.

So, can living like my rather fabulous friend make me feel as young as she looks?
More to the point – can I really stick to it, kombucha
    and all?

‘Come on Bea, get off your backside!’ Liz demands…

Liz (left) puts Beatrice through her paces in the gym. Beatrice needs extra help with exercise because
    of her sciatica

Week one: I face up to my middle-age spread
Liz’s top-line diet philosophy is high-protein, low carb, meaning she’s a fan of
lots of foods I love but didn’t think I should eat: butter, unprocessed meat, avocados, good
quality cheese, taramasalata and thick Greek yoghurt.

High protein helps us ‘shift to a leaner,
more toned shape, and lose that middle-aged spread,’ she says.

Timing matters. Liz eats two meals a day – brunch around 11am and dinner
at 7pm. The order matters too: clear your plate of chicken before rice, because eating protein before carbs keeps blood sugar levels stable.

In recent years she has increased her coffee intake
(before 2pm) because studies show four to five cups is ‘strongly associated with living longer’ thanks
to the bioactives in coffee beans such as chlorogenic acid.

She eats wheatgerm, soya beans and nuts to up her intake of spermidine – a dietary molecule that interacts with our DNA and mimics an anti-ageing process called autophagy,
which de-ages us at a cellular level.

Alcohol is basically a no-no. Liz has the ‘occasional glass’ of wine or tequila, but never
more than two and never alone.

I chuck out the ready meals and plonk, roll up my sleeves and start cooking from scratch.
I grill venison, roast a chicken and make soups with the leftovers.

Eating at specific times works for me – I’m never very hungry first thing
    – and enjoying the protein part of each meal first means I’m fuller and find it easy to cut back on my carb portions.

Gut health is a big focus, which means more fermented foods.
Much to my surprise, I love the kombucha and soon start to brew
my own using Liz’s Scoby. But homemade kimchi – fermented veg
    – is a harder sell. When a lunch guest asks me why I’m forcing myself
to eat something I dislike so much, I reply solemnly: ‘Liz told me to.’

Week two: I discover I can do only 3 press-ups
I really need help with exercise because sciatica means my normal routine has gone to pot.

Thankfully, Liz reckons just ten minutes a day of exercises such
as squats, lunges and press-ups is more valuable in the long term than a high-intensity gym session once
a week or a long park run.

She introduces me to her personal trainer, Michael Garry, who delivers the (bombshell,
but welcome) news that running any distance over 5k
can ‘start to have negative effects’ on our immune system and bone strength.
If you’re a runner, make it harder by speeding up your
    time, not increasing your distance.

At Michael’s insistence, I consult a physio about my
sciatica, and then he devises a daily regime for me. I try press-ups and make it to three.
    Mortifying. Perseverance is clearly key.
As are weights, especially in your 50s. ‘The more muscle you have, the more
your bones are protected from osteoporosis, especially during midlife,’ says Michael.

For cardio, says Beatrice, I keep swimming twice a week.
But instead of plodding up and down the pool, I start to compete with myself, speeding up
    the laps

For my slack and flabby upper arms, he advises shoulder presses and hammer curls, with 3kg weights in both
hands. I try tricep dips off a chair, and quickly find I can increase my reps – until by week four I’m doing two sets of 15.

I work out three times a week at home. At first the routine takes 40 minutes
but the more I do, the faster I do it, until the whole thing – stretching,
    press-ups, weights – takes just 20 minutes.

For cardio, I keep swimming twice a week. But instead of plodding up and down the pool,
I start to compete with myself, speeding up the laps.

Week three: I slow the hormonal roller coaster
I’m menopausal and already on HRT, but I know I could improve how I
feel, which is sluggish and foggy.

Liz introduces me to something called the ‘estrobolome’ – the specific collection of bacteria in the gut that influences how
our body uses oestrogen. Put simply, some microbes improve the efficiency
with which oestrogen reaches tissues around the body, meaning we use our dwindling supplies more effectively.

The best way to support your estrobolome is by eating fibre from veg, seeds and nuts, plus some of the low-sugar fruits such as apples, berries and plums.
Back to the supermarket I go.

To boost the happy hormone serotonin, my
saintly mentor insists I finish my morning shower with a minimum 60-second blast of icy cold water, resulting – she claims –
in a ‘post-shock high’ and ‘genuine glow’.

Hmmm. I find it hard to relinquish the comfort of a hot shower and feel not happy but mutinous
as I step out of the bathroom shivering.

Week four: I stand in the flower bed
Living Like Liz means getting outside first thing in the morning and
standing barefoot on the grass. ‘Grounding’
apparently enables electrons from the surface of
the Earth to transmit deep into the body, ‘where they have an anti-inflammatory effect’.

Liz tells me she does this in the tranquil grounds
of her glorious pile in the West Country. I do it in a flower bed in my
shared patio, still in my pyjamas, and feel, well, very self-conscious.
Later I graduate to the park, and – look away now – tread in dog
mess, which does not improve my emotional wellbeing.

She also encourages us to keep a Five Minute Gratitude Journal twice a day.

‘Gratitude is… a superpower that improves longevity and
supports the immune system,’ she says.

I can’t help but think my better-off mate has rather a lot more to smile about than me but, following instructions, I write down three things I am grateful
for every morning, and every night a short list of ‘good things’
that happened that day, plus another (longer) list of ‘things that are concerning me’.

My scepticism around gratitude slowly lifts as I find it does make me realise what’s important and what’s not.
It helps me see that things are a lot brighter than I thought.
Packing in a rush for a weekend away, I can’t find my journal and am surprised by how bereft I feel without it.

Week five: I start to sleep well
I’m a night owl – I stay up too late watching TV and end up hitting my snooze button past 8.30am…
    and occasionally edging towards 10am.

Liz reckons anyone can improve their sleep if they follow her routine, which means setting an evening alarm for 9pm –
to remind yourself to start ‘winding down for bed’.

Emails, social media and TV are switched off,
replaced by a printed book or a podcast. She takes 120g of magnesium glycinate in a milky drink half an hour before bed (and stops eating two hours before).

Living Like Liz means getting outside first thing in the morning

Liz wears a bamboo fibre nightie or pyjamas to keep warm because she sleeps with an open window,
which she covers with blackout blinds and curtains, and sprinkles her pillow with a few drops of neat lavender essential oil.

I’m an e-book reader, so already failing at this routine. Still, I leave my phone charging in the kitchen and buy
a regular alarm clock. The lavender oil makes
me sneeze, so I spray my pillows with C. Atherley Geranium Spray instead.

Oh, and I tape my lips up – Liz shows me how when she delivers the kombucha.
Forcing yourself to breathe through your nose is said to promote more restful sleep.

All of this is time-consuming and takes practise, but
I find the ritual soothing. Five weeks in, I’m getting to sleep earlier than I
have for years – at 10.30pm after 20 minutes drop-off time -and waking at 7.30am.
    How virtuous!

Week six: I crash off the wagon
I’m doing my best, but then I go for lunch with a friend who chirpily
suggests a glass of wine, which turns into a bottle.

And then a second. Later, with a daytime hangover, I head to M&S and find reduced dauphinoise potatoes, which
    become dinner.

Liz has got me on a blood sugar tracker called Lingo (£289 for two months – you jab
a biosensor the size and shape of a plastic bottle top into your
upper arm, and then link it to an app on your phone), which shows a massive post-potato spike and
then a huge slump, which makes me tired and irritable.
Who knew that such deliciousness had such a high glycaemic load?

I call Liz to ‘fess up. ‘I have the odd day when I lie in, eat too much cake and drink too
much tequila,’ she says. ‘But that’s fine
because you then know what to do to put it right. It’s
    not about being perfect.’ Phew!

Week seven: I tackle my financial mess
Re-reading my journal really helps here. By
documenting what I was so worried about day by
day, my perspective on it changes.

Here, in black and white, is a record of how I felt
at the start of this project and how I’ve evolved.

I’ve come unstuck – in a good way. I’m not going to
pretend it’s been easy because change is uncomfortable, but I realise there’s simply nothing to be gained from the worry spiral.

If freelance life is tough, and my income erratic, I’m going to
do something about it. Buoyed with the confidence that comes with action, I
apply for part-time admin jobs. As personal trainer Michael observes as we work out on Zoom, I wouldn’t have done this before.
He’s right. Finally I’ve started to take control.

Week eight: And the winner is…
So how have eight weeks of Living Like Liz changed me?

Physically, I’m in much better shape. I’ve lost 7 lb and taken an extraordinary 5 in off my waist and 11 in off my body as a whole.

Those three pathetic press-ups have become a whopping 40 per workout,
and the measly 3kg weights are now 6kg, meaning I have proper bicep definition. The sleeveless tops will be coming out again this
    party season.

Our essential guide to beating back pain: What’s causing your aches

My skin is clearer, eyes brighter and face
more defined because I’ve reduced the carb-inducing bloat.
I’m sleeping better and feeling infinitely
    less anxious.

Most remarkably – and this is really life-changing – my sciatica is almost gone
and I can come off strong painkillers. I know sciatica can disappear of its own accord,
but the timing is surely no coincidence. All those
exercises have strengthened the muscles around
my spine and buttocks and I’m convinced it’s done the trick.

I meet Liz for lunch, nervous about whether she’ll see a difference.

‘Oh wow,’ she says, taking a good look at her pupil.
‘Those arms! You definitely look younger.’

We chat for a while and she adds: ‘You also seem more
content and optimistic. You have an inner glow and a halo of positivity.’

Well, yes, she would say that, wouldn’t she?

(Probably. Though Liz is known for her candour, so it’s not a given.)
‘I wasn’t sure you were going to prioritise yourself enough and commit,’ she admits ‘You weren’t an easy
nut to crack so I’m thrilled.’

I’m delighted with my gold star. And I’m grateful to her, which is one of the key lessons I’ve learned.

    Gratitude makes everything feel better.

That – along with the kombucha, ice-cold showers (which I have
learned to love) and the odd tequila – are the habits I’ll hold
on to. But not (shudder!) the kimchi or flower beds.

As Liz says, everyone deserves to have a better second half – and if I can do it, anyone can.

  46. Joker: Folie À Deux — starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix — has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie
history as the film bombed at the box office on opening night.

The psychological musical thriller — which has
been criticized as ‘bleak’ and ‘disappointing’ — officially released in theaters on Friday, October 4,
but it only raked in $20 million at the domestic box office, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the
sequel, which had earned him an Oscar for his portrayal in the 2019 film, while
Gaga took on the role of Harleen Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn).

However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a D rating on CinemaScore —
the lowest score for a comic book movie.

Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and also
received terrible reviews — holds a higher score with a C+.

Joker: Folie À Deux – starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix – has
garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history as the film bombs at the box office on opening
    night

It received a D rating on CinemaScore – the lowest score for a comic book movie

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score of 31% and a
    critic score of 32%.

The sequel is projected to rake in less that $50 million at
the domestic box office during the entirety of opening weekend, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Joker: Folie À Deux is branded ‘bleak’ and the ‘most disappointing
    follow-up’ by critics

Weeks ago, the movie had been projected to bring in around $70
million – but the number has since drastically dropped.

Joker (2019) notably opened with $96.2 million when the film first released in theaters – and eventually landed
a little over $1 billion in the global box office.

The first movie – which was also directed by Todd Phillips – had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget
increased for Folie À Deux to around $200 million.

The 2019 movie garnered praise and positive reviews from
both critics and audiences – and won the Golden Lion during the 76th
    Venice International Film Festival.

Joaquin received an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the Joker (Arthur Fleck) – and the film garnered an additional Academy Award
    for Best Original Score.

The sequel also screened during the Venice International Film Festival
last month in September, where it earned
a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score of
    31% and a critic score of 32%

However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared their opinions on the sequel,
    which features musical sequences.

One fan penned, ‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this. what happened
to the script?’ while another added, ‘is it that bad,’ followed by a crying face emoji.

‘Ironically I feel that a musical, if done well, could have been a good choice.
It’d show how much of an unreliable narrator Fleck is,’ one typed.

‘But with some original songs, that keep
everything vague, not just covers. Also when I heard
of the ending I snorted fr.’

A social media user wrote, ‘Stop making sequels as musicals if the original wasn’t a musical.’

‘Maybe he [Phillips] only had an hour long movie, and decided
to randomly add musical scenes to fill the runtime,’ one penned.

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another shared, along with
a monkey staring out a window.

One fan said, ‘the movie sucks. i had to walk out of the cinema,’ while another penned, ‘After years of
disagreement….*Joker 2 releases* Critics [shaking hands] Audience.’

However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared their opinions over the sequel, which was also a musical

    ‘ one typed

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another
shared, along with a monkey staring out a window

‘That’s way below what we expected,’ one wrote in regards to the current Rotten Tomatoes scores.

‘People are saying this is the worst sequel ever.’

A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was pretentious and dull.
has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance.’

‘It also insults the audience’s intelligence. the songs were also underwhelming too.
they shouldn’t have let this escape to theaters.’

One shared, ‘The audience that loved the first movie is not the
same audience running to see musicals. This was a gigantic mistake from
    step 1.’

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether he would be interested in making a third Joker
film or a movie centered around Gaga’s character.

‘It’s not really where this movie is headed for me.
I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these two films.’

Ahead of the movie’s release, Lady Gaga also dropped an accompanying album titled Harlequin on September 27.

Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they
cast doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following its release
    on Friday.

‘That’s way below what we expected,’ one wrote in regards
to the current Rotten Tomatoes scores. ‘People are saying this is the worst sequel ever’

A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was pretentious and dull.
has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance’

The ‘bleak’ sequel, has also received a tepid reception from fans,
with some claiming Lady Gaga’s career could be at risk.

While the same director Todd Phillips was back in the hot seat, critics
have said the sequel is just a ‘repeat’ of the first hit but with an added musical twist.

Most critics have said Todd failed to use Gaga correctly in the movie and
claimed she was only bought in for the musical aspect of
    it.

While the majority of critics say Joker: Folie À Deux didn’t live up
to expectations, others have dubbed the movie ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant.’

Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’ but said it lacked any thrill.

The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said: ‘Today Joker is best remembered as one of the most subversive and original films of the last decade,
while its hugely anticipated sequel is just as bleak and formally daring as its predecessor’.

Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave the movie
just two stars but credited Phillips’ work for making a sequel following the first movie’s $1billion success.

Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked hard to bump
the ratings up in the sequel, Phillips appeared to have no
idea what to do with her.

Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed the movie proves ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether
he would be interested in making a third Joker film or a movie centered around Gaga’s character; Phillips, Gaga and
Phoenix seen in September in L.A.

Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up to
the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they cast doubt on Lady
Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following its release on Friday; seen in September in London

The Times’ Kevin Maher wrote: ‘The director Todd Phillips
said there would be no follow-up to the original, but he
changed his mind and the result is a derivative musical’

‘This might be the most disappointing follow-up to an Oscar-winning
performance since Anthony Hopkins reworked his silky and terrifying Dr Lecter from for the campy, kitschy.’

Along with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and
    Steve Coogan.

Joker: Folie à Deux has faced additional backlash from fans as they have claimed that Gaga is
running the risk of losing her acting career.

The grisly film – made for about $2 million – stars Thornton as homicidal clown Art who brutally murders an array of victims in stomach churning scenes – with
the film knocking the starry Joaquin Phoenix and
Lady Gaga film off the top of the US box office last week.

Thornton said the runaway success of his film had left him stunned as he likened to battle of the two films to ‘David vs Goliath.’

He told TMZ: ‘Terrifier 3 was a small lower budget independent film…
I never expected this to happen in my life, I’m floored and grateful for it all.

‘We’re grateful to the fans, we have a dedicated fanbase, we weren’t beholden to the studio system.

Terrifier 3, written and directed by Damien Leone, is an un-rated blood fest,
which has received a 78-percent rating from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes.  Audiences have ‘certified’ it ‘hot’ and given it a healthy 90-percent on the popcornmeter.

The film earned $18.3 million at the box office according to The Numbers.

Landing in third place was Joker: Folie à Deux. After winning the box
office competition during its debut weekend could not overcome the
bad reviews, enduring an 82-percent decline in ticket sales.

The movie collected only $7.055 million, in spite of being in more than four thousand theaters across the US.

The musical is ‘poised to lose at least $150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run’ according to the publication.

The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about $100 million on marketing and distribution, according to
    the report.

It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office to break even — when factoring in the
cut taken by theaters — though Warner Bros. sources claim
    the number is $375 million.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report,
saying ‘Any estimates suggested by anonymous “insiders” or “rival executives” are grossly wrong and continues a
trend where rumor is reported as fact.’

‘The film continues to play in theatrical release, included with this
week’s opening in China, and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing and ancillary
    run.’

So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed
$51.5 million domestically and $165 million globally after two weeks of release.

The film is ‘poised to lose at least $150 million to $200
million in its theatrical run’ according to the publication

In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically and $248.4 million globally after three days of
    release.

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film
was considered a surefire hit for Warner Bros Pictures, yet ended up being slammed by critics and
failed to ignite at the box office.

Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history
as the film bombed at the box office on opening night.

  49. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter to choose between an immigration crackdown and reproductive rights

As their race for the US presidency comes down to the
wire, each major candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite
theme — abortion rights for Democrat Kamala
Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.

In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a
white-hot peak, with both topics the subject of fiercely debated
    ballot referendums.

And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost to President
Joe Biden in 2020 by a tiny margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly will count.

In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts were going door-to-door to try to persuade voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution —
and, while they’re at it, to vote for Vice President Harris.

To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled states amount to “a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”

She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Une pancarte barrée du slogan “L’indifférence aux élections est dangereuse”, à Tucson, en Arizona, le 16 octobre 2024

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional protection of federal abortion rights, Ireland,
a registered nurse, has worked in several states
where abortion is banned or severely limited.

Those restrictions have had sometimes disastrous consequences for women having problem pregnancies or
carrying nonviable fetuses when doctors refuse to treat them.

“Women are going septic and dying because they cannot receive the care that they need,” she
    told AFP.

    – ‘Abortion is murder’ –

As Ireland carries her message to potential voters, she noted,
particularly to young people who may be less
likely to vote, that it was Donald Trump who appointed the
three justices who tipped the Supreme Court against abortion rights.

Donald Trump lors d’un meeting à Tempe, en Arizona,
    le 24 octobre 2024

“It’s important to reiterate that Donald Trump and these abortion bans are one and the same,” Ireland said.

But in Tucson there is little unanimity among young voters.

“I do think that abortion is murder,” said Pedro Lopez, a 20-year-old college student.

“There are cases of incest or rape” that merit exceptions, he conceded,
    “but that’s very small.”

He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants that have entered the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris administration.

“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.

“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”

So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to
back the proposal to let local law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute anyone suspected of having entered the country illegally — powers normally reserved to the border police who work for the federal government.

“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez said.

    – Mixed impact –

The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering an opportunity to mobilize more people to vote — on ballot questions at the very
heart of the two presidential campaigns.

Anti-abortion activists demonstrate outside a clinic in Phoenix, Arizona on April 18, 2024

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for the White House that activists hope.

Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.

Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and
    both appear likely to pass.

So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian,
a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.

Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to bring Trump
back to the White House, Brian said.

Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.

The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the
Arizona ballot question finding support not just among Trump Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh, a
Republican and an Arizona state senator.

The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening
on migration, specifically her promise to maintain the partial closing of the border Biden ordered
    in recent months.

The vice president, Kavanagh said, is “running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.”

However another racy photo, taken before they became a couple, captured Abbie and Adam
waiting patiently together in a fast food line, with the presenter
looking absolutely smitten over the strapping musician.

Abbie had a huge smile on her face in the adorable picture, as she
gazed intensely at Adam as they chatted while waiting to order.

She captioned the picture: ‘One year and two days since this iconic photo of me being in love with Adam.

She appeared on the bonus Ask Me Anything episode with Adam, in which they discussed their budding

  51. An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was,
once upon a time, an offer you simply didn’t refuse.
Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes, sure didn’t come cheap.
There may have been other things on the menu, but no one
paid them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black
    stuff.

Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are few better
dishes on earth…only the price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the
boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s. It prospers to
this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet.
Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.

But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning
the doors were opened to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very stern man.
The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps, indecorously
bright, while a loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the
background. The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture.
They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur that tastes far better than it ought to.
Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily, glossily
    confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and
charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely blinked.
Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream,
are a study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous. But there are few better dishes on earth.
I’d eat this every day if I could. But I can’t.
Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

    About £200 per head. Caviar Kaspia, 1a Chesterfield Street, London W1;

  52. There are certain materials that we always fall
back on for winter. Linen is swapped out for leather; silk skirts for thick corduroy
trousers. But while we regularly see a smattering of suede on the high street
by mid-October, this year, the fabric has reached full-on domination.

It began in late summer with fringed suede jackets, the perfect
layering piece to nail the boho trend à la Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Then came suede trousers, as we all desperately sought out ways to keep our legs warm
as the weather took a turn.

Now, it’s reached our accessories. On outfit-sharing platform
LTK, there’s been a 600% uptick in searches for suede bags
in the last week alone. Anyone on Instagram will know within a
minute of scrolling you’ll come across another trendy influencer with a suede
    hobo chucked over their shoulder.

The style du jour is a super soft tote big enough to chuck all your work gear in. One rule to remember?
The slouchier, the better. Jigsaw’s £195 version has a magnet closure across the top,
which has the dual benefit of keeping your belongings safe and causing
the accessory to crinkle in the middle, for an uber-effortless effect.

But if you don’t fancy lugging a huge tote to
the bar, there are plenty of chic smaller suede
offerings to opt for. Arket’s AW24 collection includes a
suede take on the practical half-moon crossbody, available
in beige, black and a rich mocha. At a cheaper price point, River Island and Urban Outfitters have great
faux suede options that are not only kinder on the purse strings,

  54. ANGELA HARTNETT’S BEEF & VEAL MEATBALLS
Meatballs are super-quick to make for a weeknight
supper and there are many ways to serve them (see tip).
The veal in these gives a lightness to the result, but you can swap it out for all beef, or flavourful pork mince.
This is a good way to use up any day-old bread hanging around.
The recipe is easy to double up on and freeze so you have a meal for an emergency.

    SERVES 4

4 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the onion

    1 onion, finely chopped

    2 garlic cloves, chopped

    400g tin chopped tomatoes

200g white bread (day old, if possible)

whole milk (enough to soak the bread)

    500g beef mince

    250g English veal mince

2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, plus extra to serve

    4 anchovies, finely chopped

    2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley

salt and freshly ground black pepper

350g dried spaghetti, to serve (optional; see tip)

1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat a dash of olive oil over a
medium heat, then add half the chopped onion and
half the garlic, then sauté for 10 minutes to soften. Add the tomatoes and when the liquid starts to bubble, reduce to a simmer and
leave to cook, stirring occasionally (about 20 minutes,
to create a thick sauce), while you make the meatballs.

2 In a bowl, soak the bread in the milk until soft. In another bowl, mix the beef,
veal, parmesan, anchovies, half the parsley and the rest of the
onions and garlic. Then add the soaked bread,
lightly squeezing any excess milk from it first.
Mix well and season with salt and pepper. Mould the mixture into 12-14 meatballs.

3 Put the 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat.
When hot, add the meatballs, turning (for about 5 minutes) to ensure
they colour all over. If necessary, cook in batches so they are not all squashed together, setting
each batch aside on a plate while you cook the remainder.

4 To finish, remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.

Pour the tomato sauce into the frying pan over a medium heat.
Put the meatballs back into the pan for a further 4-5 minutes to cook
through. Sprinkle with the remaining parsley before serving.

TIP You can serve the meatballs as they come, or on top of
spaghetti. If you would prefer the latter, cook
the pasta according to the packet instructions until al dente.
Drain it in a colander, reserving a cupful of the cooking water to loosen the meatball sauce if necessary, and then transfer it back to the pan and toss it with a
little olive oil and butter. Put the spaghetti on a serving
plate and top with the meatballs and sauce. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil
    and a sprinkle of parmesan.

Shyamalan’s wife, Dr. Bhavna Shyamalan, 55, looked beautiful in an amber-colored, Victorian era gown with bats all over it.

Her makeup was a cross between zombie and goth as she proudly posed next to her talented husband who looked

The foundation ‘supports the grassroots efforts of

    website.

    M. Night shot to fame in 1999 with his film The Sixth Sense, which celebrated turning 25-years-old
    in August.

Shyamalan recently opened up about that film’s impact on his career in an interview with People.

‘At this point, there’s so many generations of people
that have watched [my] different movies,’ the director said.

He added that some, people ‘only know me from [2015 movie] The Visit from then on,
so they don’t even know about The Sixth Sense.
So when I think about that, it’s wild.’

‘Each movie, I feel this way — that I don’t know if it’ll ever get made.
I don’t know if I’ll ever get to make another one… “If this is the last one, I want it to just represent me,”‘ he continued.

Shyamalan, who was born in Mahé India but grew up in Penn Valley,
Pennsylvania, released two films in the 1990s before The Sixth Sense.

That set off a string a big hits for the filmmaker that includes Unbreakable
(2000), Signs (2002) and The Village (2004), that ultimately ended with the
release of Lady In The Water (2006), which barely covered the $70 million budget.

His biggest box office success was with The Sixth Sense, grossing $672.8 million while working with a $40

To date, the film made $6.6 million on its first day, including an estimated $2.2 million from the Thursday night
    previews.

  68. Australian politicians are almost always opting to fly with Qantas on taxpayer-funded trips, despite Virgin offering cheaper tickets.

Federal MPs flew with the national carrier for 80 per
cent of work trips last year despite it not always being
the cheapest route, according to travel data provided to the government.

While politicians and their staffers are required to book the cheapest flight,
it also has to be the most efficient, with Qantas offering the most routes between major cities.

MPs are banned from accruing frequent flyer points on taxpayer-funded
trips like ordinary Aussies can, but they can can receive lifetime
status credits, which allows access to airport lounges and flight upgrades.

‘How else can one explain the extraordinary dominance of Qantas in securing bookings by parliamentarians and
their staff?’ Myriam Robin wrote in an opinion piece for the
    Australian Financial Review.

‘There’s nothing like accruing status credits on someone else’s dime.’

Transport Minister Catherine King has since committed
to a review of flight bookings by government officials
which will be conducted by the Department of Finance this year, despite there being just two months left of 2024.

Politicians’ preference for Qantas may also be
put down to the airline’s exclusive invite-only ‘Chairman’s Lounge’.

    EXCLUSIVE

The Flying Kanga-RORT – why you’re footing the bill as airlines wine and dine pollies in VIP club

Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every single federal politician in the country has accepted free membership of the club.

Qantas and the Albanese government have both denied the
airline enjoys any disproportionate level of influence over the
    country’s political classes.

A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest
registers – in both the House of Representatives and the Senate – revealed almost 93 per cent of the nation’s leaders have
been ‘gifted’ membership to the lavish, all-inclusive lounge.

The high profile ranks of government giftees include Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as well as every
member of his 22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer
Ministry and all 12 assistant ministers.

While most politicians declared their Qantas’ privileges as a ‘gift’, Labor MP Marion Scrymgour listed her membership
    as her ‘Chairman Lounge entitlement’.

Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every single federal politician in the
country has accepted free membership of Qantas’ exclusive
    Chairman’s Lounge.

And it’s not just politicians on the take, with more than 60 MPs – including Marles, Chalmers,
King, Bill Shorten, Zali Steggall and Tanya Plibersek – disclosing their spouses
have also been granted unfettered, independent access to Qantas’ luxurious members
    only lounge.

Often touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’,
membership to the Chairman’s Lounge has long been veiled in secrecy.

Even the entrances to each of the country’s six opulent VIP clubs –
in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth airports – are suitably discreet.

Though, once inside, the designer lounges are immediately more ostentatious, with free à la carte fine dining,
table service, a decadent selection of wines and Champagne and a discreet army of dedicated
    lounge attendants.

Membership to the club is ‘priceless’ – it cannot be bought
for any amount of money nor obtained via any amount of frequent flyers
    points.

Instead, each member is hand-picked and approved by
the company’s chief executive and chairman.

  73. The late Bob Bryar was once part of one of the most popular American rock band’s of
    the early 2000s.

However after the drummer’s departure from My Chemical Romance in 2010 the musician endured a difficult battle
    with depression and mental health.

He previously admitted he was ‘the most depressed, angry, suicidal

Bob was found dead at his home in Tennessee, at age 44, this week just two days before Thanksgiving.

At this time, his cause of death has not been made public and
it is unknown who found him, according to TMZ.

As the longest-serving and final official drummer for My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2010,
his departure was shrouded in rumors of tension with his bandmates—Frank Lero, Mikey Way, Gerard Way, and Ray Toro.

    BREAKING NEWS

My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar found dead
    at 44

On March 3, 2010, guitarist Frank revealed that Bob had left the band in a decision he described
    as ‘painful’.

In an official statement on the band’s website, he wrote: ‘As
of 4 weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways.

‘This was a painful decision for all of us to make
and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future
endeavors and expect you all to do the same.’

In 2015 Bob opened up about feeling ‘angry’ and ‘suicidal’ after he
was kicked out of the band as he spoke out about the dark time in his life.

Taking to Twitter half a decade after he left the group in a now deleted post he wrote: ‘It’s been about five years
since I was kicked out of MyChem, I became the most depressed, angry, suicidal person ever.’

Discussing his mental health he added: ‘Now,
I am on so many pills that I feel a bit better, although,
it still (b)others me every day. In a recent conversation, I was told I won’t be back.’

He previously admitted he was ‘ the most
depressed, angry, suicidal person ever’ after leaving the group amid rumours
of a fallout with his fellow bandmates

While the band members did not discuss the specifics,
multiple sources confirmed that a falling out had occurred,
per MTV (pictured with his former bandmates Ray Toro, Mikey Way, Gerard
    Way and Frank Lero L-R)

Bob was found dead at his home in Tennessee , at
age 44, this week just two days before Thanksgiving (pictured 2006)

The star was last seen alive on November 4, the same day he posted his final tweets, one of which simply read ‘TULSI,’ seemingly
    referencing former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard

He also wrote: ‘sooo I have been wanting to try and play again. @MatthewCortez @LukasPMd
@saaanch lets do this before I jump of a bridge. last try for me.’

After retiring from music in 2014, Bob became a real estate agent and an active advocate of various dog rescues
    and sanctuaries.

In 2021, Bryar auctioned off the drum set he last used with the
band—both on tour and during the recording of
their iconic 2006 album The Black Parade—to
raise funds for an animal rescue center in Tennessee, according to Rolling Stone.

‘This is my very last drum kit and it’s ready for a new home.
I used this kit when [the band] opened the MTV VMAs in 2005, the following
tour, and for some of the [Black Parade] record,’ he wrote in the listing, per the outlet.

Although My Chemical Romance was scheduled to tour in 2025, Bob was not
due to reunite with the band.

Bob was found dead this week, as TMZ reported his body
was ‘badly decomposed’ when discovered and Animal Control came to the house to take away his two dogs.

Authorities do not suspect ‘foul play’ as all
his ‘weapons and music equipment in the home were left untouched’ (seen in 2007)

know before buying your own micro pig.

    Clearly I must go there!

And so I head to Amersham, in Buckinghamshire, where Kew Little Pigs
    Farm is based.

When I arrive, owner Olivia Mikhail looks slightly concerned at the sight of my Converse trainers and
cropped jeans, a combination that will surely result in splattered shins.

However, Olivia has no idea just how prepared I actually am, because I have packed not
only knee high wellies for my time on the farm, but also my
designer heels, for my glimpse into what life’s like as a pig-owning celebrity.

Arnold Schwarzenegger with Schnelly the pig, who joined his menagerie of pets in April last year

Ariane Grande and Pete Davidson adopted Piggy Smallz during their short-lived romance in 2018

Comedian John Bishop was left devastated when his rescue pig Milo
passed away last year, describing him as the ‘heartbeat’ of the family

Paris Hilton started the chihuahuas in handbags craze, and is also the proud owner of Princess Piglette

George Clooney, Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, Jonathan Ross,
Charlotte Church and even the Beckhams have
all kept pigs as pets over the past decade or so, while more recently Ariane Grande and Pete Davidson adopted Piggy Smallz during their short-lived romance.

Comedian John Bishop gave rescue pig Milo a home for
more than a decade and was devastated when the pet passed away,
saying he was the ‘heartbeat’ of the family.

They’re as much a celeb accessory as oversized sunglasses
    – which is why I’ve brought those with me too.

But first things first. Before I spend an afternoon taking a petite pig for a stroll, I sit down with
Olivia in the Kew Little Pigs cafe, to complete the theory
side of the Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping.

It turns out there is quite a lot of admin involved in owning a pig, alongside
a rule book thicker than Harry Potter.

Who knew that you needed a license to walk a pig? Who would imagine that you
can’t feed pigs your kitchen leftovers? It used
to be common practice, but has been banned because of the risk of diseases such as African swine flu
and foot and mouth disease that can be spread by consuming
    contaminated pork products.

Who can fathom having to fill out a form to drive your pig from one place to another – again for
    disease control reasons?

After all the admin and mucking out, Samantha was delighted to move on to the fun part –
    cuddles with Astrid

Samantha found that mucking out the pig pen was actually
a lot more civilised than picking up poo on a dog walk

Samantha came armed with wellies for her day at the farm, but made sure to keep it glamorous

After swapping her flimsy trainers for wellies, Samantha felt
equipped to tackle her day on the farm

And who would guess that pigs have to have their own house?
I mean, it’s only got to be about the size of shed,
but it’s actually a law to uphold welfare standards.

I suppose none of this is an issue for celebrities who have
people to do paperwork for them – not to mention acres of space – but to me it
    seems insurmountable.

Olivia senses that my dreams are crushed and attempts to reassure me: ‘It’s really not that much paperwork.
Look, filling in this form would take two minutes.’

Moving on from the theory, we head outside for the practical part of the course.
Here, in large pens, are lots of little pigs which are super cute, so
    this makes me happy.

I am given a rake to claw the pig poo into a dustpan. Both the rake and the dustpan have long handles and I like the distance this creates.
It is certainly more civilised than picking up poo in a flimsy plastic bag on a dog
    walk.

Clearing away pig excrement with proper equipment which allows you to maintain a civilised, and sanitary, distance makes me wonder if – despite
the paperwork – pigs might just trump dogs.

Samantha was worried she might attract stares walking Astrid through town, but
    nobody batted an eyelid

Samantha treated herself to a hot chocolate while Astrid enjoyed
    some pig treats

Samantha swapped her wellington boots for high heels to
glam up to take her pet pig down to the town centre for lunch

Taking a pig out for a walk is trickier than it looks, and a lot of treats are required to keep things on track

Next, Olivia asks if I would like to feed the pigs. Yes of course!

She hands me some hay that’s stuffed inside what’s
basically a large fishnet stocking, the size of Santa’s sack.
The hay sticks out of all the holes, and it’s my job
to hang up the sack in the pig pen, so the pigs can eat from it.

This sounds easy. Only it’s not. ‘NOT THERE! NO!
IT’S GOT TO BE HIGHER! TIE IT ROUND THE POST! NO! NOT LIKE THAT!
    NO!’

I feel like a failing contestant on The
Crystal Maze, only this is worse because I’m now surrounded by hungry pigs and I cannot see a panic button.

I swear there was something on Netflix where murdered bodies were dumped
in a pig pen, to be eaten by the pigs. Or maybe
the bodies were eaten alive. This definitely happens all the time, according to TV, and now I
don’t even know which is worse, the prospect of being felled by pigs
eating through my ankles, or the pressure to hang the hay
    correctly.

It is like my challenge on The Crystal Maze has been especially devised to amuse the inhabitants of hell.

I find myself grateful to make it out of the pig pen alive.
Surely I get to do celebrity stuff now?

Celebrities’ pigs are as stylish as their owners, so
I’ve sourced designer outfits for my trottered chums. I’d initially looked at diamond
chokers by Dior, because what pig wouldn’t want a diamond collar?
But apparently pigs are happier in harnesses, which fit around
the body, not just the neck.

I hunt for a harness that an A-lister might pick for their pig,
and I am delighted to discover a pink leopard print harness with a matching lead.

It is by Urban Pup, a pet fashion brand whose website I’ve now spent more time on than all the other websites in my search history.

There’s the zebra print, the cheetah print, the pink argyle; the florals, the
tartans, and the hearts. There’s the range inspired by Legally Blonde and the pet carrier that resembles a pink Chanel handbag.

    Then there are the socks…

I turn up at the farm with more outfits for the pigs than I have for myself.
I guess this is what it’s like being a pig parent:
    #SELFLESS

I am introduced to Astrid, a 16 month old micro piglet who’ll fulfill my
dreams of walking a pig. I show Olivia all the outfits I’ve brought from Urban Pup and she picks out
a pink tartan harness with a matching lead.

I want to dress up all the pigs but Olivia says no. That’s
OK. There is probably some law about only one pig
at a time looking this stunning.

When Astrid and I are dressed, we head into Old Amersham.
It’s a pretty market town in the Chilterns with cobbled streets and quaint white
    buildings with beams.

So how will locals feel about a pig on a lead?

I imagine I may be sternly spoken to by a member of the Women’s Institute.
However, it turns out that Old Amersham is perfectly au fait with
celebrity antics, given that Poirot, Midsomer Murders and Four Weddings and a Funeral have all been filmed there.

On my pig keeping course I have learnt that pigs never poo where they eat, sleep or socialise,
because they’re very clean, so from day one, without any training, a pig will go outside to
    poo.

I am surprised then, as I arrive in Old Amersham, to find that Astrid has done her business in her carry box.
I try not to think about this, as I hold her lead.

Our first stop is the Amersham Museum. I’m not a massive fan of walking around looking at things, but I hear the museum
homes a Tudor dining table that visitors are welcome to
sit at. It is about lunchtime, so I’m hopeful I’ll be served a Tudor banquet.
I quite fancy a tankard of wine and a bit of wild boar.

Unfortunately, Astrid does not, and so, despite being welcomed by museum director
Briony, we leave pretty much as soon as we arrive.

We go for a stroll instead, but I have to scatter pig
food pellets to coax Astrid along the pavement.
I guess celebrities get their assistants to walk ahead,
trailing treats to entice the pet pigs in the right direction.

Hard at work: Writer Samantha Rea tried the Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping, which  teaches you
everything you need to know before buying your own micro pig

However, doing it without an assistant, I find myself
thinking that it’s definitely easier to walk a dog.

Celebrity life is about lounging in luxurious surroundings,
so Astrid and I head to The Griffin, a private members club, bistro and bakery, that’s pretty much the Soho House
    of Amersham.

In the beamed building that dates back to the 17th century,
there are gorgeous leather sofas and cosy cushions.
However, I have learnt on my pig keeping course that pigs are happiest alfresco, so Astrid and I take a seat on the
astro-turf terrace, beneath a pretty parasol that wouldn’t be out of place in a Cotswolds
    shoot for Tatler.

It is here, as we relax like A-listers, that Astrid and I
are at our happiest. As I sip a coffee and eye-up a chocolate brownie (I’m being
a celebrity, remember, I don’t actually eat these things),
Astrid puts her trotters up on the seat beside me and enjoys a few pig food
    pellets.

Clearly this is our natural environment, so it’s probably
just a matter of time before Astrid is snapped up by a celebrity
    to live life first class.

But for now, Astrid must mooch back to the mud, and
I must head home to wash pig poo off my wellies.

I am chuffed to bits to have spent an afternoon with Astrid, but
as I think it all over, on the train back to Marylebone, I know that I’ll never keep a pig as a pet.

Aside from all the legal red tape, my lack of space in London, and the trickiness of trying
to take a pig for a walk, there’s always the fear that the micro pig might turn out
to be not so tiny after all.

I’ve seen headlines about 4 ounce “teacup” pigs
growing bigger than a bear, and frankly I find it terrifying.
So I’ll leave the pet pigs to the celebrities.

  82. Red takes center stage as the hottest color of the holiday season.

All red looks have been trending with the fashion set for
some time, but after Rihanna attended the Fenty
Hair launch party in a monochromatic look accessorized with multiple ruby
baubles, red-on-red became cooler than ever.

The ‘Stay’ hitmaker donned a custom red leather Khaite jacket and skirt with ruby and diamond jewelry by Sabyasachi,
    David Webb and Reza.

Monochromatic outfits, particularly in red, exude confidence and
    sophistication.

With the vibrant color being synonymous
with the holiday season, it’s a natural choice for parties and
    festive gatherings.

By also accessorizing with ruby jewelry (à la Rihanna) you can add a touch of luxury to even the simplest of
    separates.

Unlike your grandmother’s precious jewels, today’s ruby designs are being reimagined
by edgy jewelers that aren’t taking the gem so seriously.

Rubies are often referred to as the ‘king of gemstones’ and their
vibrant color – caused by the presence of chromium – is often associated with passion, love, and power.

The name ‘ruby’ comes from the Latin word ‘ruber’ which means
    red.

Rubies are incredibly sought after for their beauty and durability, they are ranked 9 on the Mohs
scale of hardness (qualitative scale that measures the
relative hardness of minerals and other materials by their resistance
    to scratching), second to diamonds.

Beyond their sparkle and strength, they have held cultural
    significance for centuries.

Throughout history, rubies have been associated with nobility and wealth, often adorning the crowns of
kings and queens. They are also believed to bring good
fortune and protection to their wearer.

According to Melee the Show founders Lauren Wolf and Rebecca Overmann,
ruby jewelry is on the rise.

The fine jewelry trade show connects buyers and designers, with the next shows taking place in New York (February 1-3) and Tucson (February 5-7).

‘From bold gemstones to intricate craftsmanship, our designers bring rubies to life in ways that
inspire and captivate,’ said the duo.

Anthony Lent, Fannie Thomas, Heather Guidero, Jake Matluck,
Amali, Karin Jacobson, Marian Maurer and Ciara Bowles are some of the exhibiting designers who work with rubies.
